Helsinki Municipality Bans Värmestugan Center from Distributing Food Due to Health Violations
The Helsinki Municipal Environment Committee has decided to ban the Värmestugan Center from handling and distributing food, starting on Monday 26 October 2026, amid health violations revealed by inspections.
Crimes included keeping meat, poultry and fish at inappropriate temperatures, a lack of storage facilities, and not providing sufficient information about the ingredients of certain meals, sensitivity-inducing substances and cooking dates.
Instead, the municipality announced additional support for people affected by the decision, with referrals to social assistance services and the possibility of applying for emergency financial aid to buy food.
The decision is limited to the handling and distribution of foodstuffs and does not include the distribution of clothes.
